Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks

I hope that you are spending the day with your family, eating your favorite dishes, just like I am! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays for many reasons. I love thinking back to all the Thanksgivings I spent at my parents house. My family has never really been in to "traditions", though I seem to recall doing pretty much the same thing every year.

My dad would wake me up by sending our squealing dog to my room. After a few minutes of grumbling and shooing the dog away, I'd make my way downstairs. Dad usually made something light for breakfast after he got in from deer hunting. I would spend the morning watching the parade in my PJs and occasionally helping mom with preparing the meal.

Thanksgiving to me, has always been about time with family. There has always been something heartwarming about watching movies like Jaws between naps and eating. There was no agenda. No trips to the city to stand in lines at stores. And trust me, it was tempting to go stand in line at the mall because I'm a sucker for a good deal! But it was never about that. It was about staying home and being together.

This Thanksgiving, I am especially thankful for my family and friends who have supported, and continue to support, me as I launched Klimb Creative, LLC. I am thankful for my clients. I am thankful for my business and the opportunity I have to be a small business owner.

I encourage you to take some time to be with your friends and family this Thanksgiving. And if and when you DO go shopping, let it be AFTER Thanksgiving, and let it be local. Shopping small and local can do amazing things for our communities and supporting small businesses.
